Maddy blinking, maybe she's kissing, too.
I was reading a list of interesting cat facts and came across one I’ve never heard before: When cats look you in the eye then blink slowly, they are blowing you a kiss. Cats apparently do this with each other, too. All cats do this, feral, domestic, big cats. So, the next time you’re at the zoo, try blinking slowly to the tiger, you might make a new friend.
It also said that doing this communicates friendship with the cat, so if you’re trying to get close to a feral, maybe this could help. It also supposedly calms them.
I’ve been trying this with my cats for about a day. The only one who responded was Maddy. I tried and tried, and Maddy really only seemed to respond once.
I’ve noticed when looking at the cats that sometimes they seem to blink quite a bit. Maybe there is something to this, because cats communicate with each other some how. It’s known that cats only meow when humans are present. So, blinking is one possible way they talk to each other.
Whether it’s true or not, I’ll keep practicing my slow blinks and look for signs of communication. It’s kind of nice to think your cats may be showing affection in this way.

I was thinking though that your kitties have been with you for over ten years. So the blinking thing might not always work a whole bunch because they have had 10+ years of talking with you in there own ways. So eye blink skills might be rusty there.
